Why I think the Pentax Q system will be a success. I am writing an e-book for it.

Hi Pentaxian friends.

The first thing in your mind when reading the title of this post is probably "The image quality will be poor on account of the small 1/2.3 inch backlit CMOS image sensor". Yes. it's a very small sensor and I don't anticipate that the Q system will replace the big Full Frame DSLRs that professionals use, nor will it replace APS-C based cameras. 

However, there are millions upon millions of people that don't shoot professionally.  Those people rarely print images bigger that 8" x 10", and a good majority  don't print images at all. They load their images on the   "Flickr" sites of the world and share with friends and the others on emails, social networks, etc.  Make no mistake about it,  there are more of these type of photographers than there is professional photographers. The numbers will only increase.

The Q camera packs 12.4 megapixels and the technology has advanced so much, that the IQ is better or equal to the best DSLRs of just five years ago. Keeping in mind that the majority of people taking pictures are not professionals and that most never print any images, I think that the Q system will be successful. You can carry the Q camera and one lens with you at all time. Remember the old saying "The best camera is the one you have with you" why not changing it to "The camera that is with you can be the best camera available". It certainly better than any cell phone. The Pentax Q system does so much, and is ultra portable. Here are the special highlights of what special things it can do, despite its very small size:

Capable of producing 12 bit DNG RAW and JPG images

In-camera true HDR capture mode shoots using 3 images 

High quality motion video with stunning full 1080p HD clarity at 30 frames per second. The Q processes the full HD video using high quality h.264 compression for superior color and detail and offers creative video effects through custom image modes, digital video filters, and interval shooting.

5 frames per second continuous shooting mode for any fast action setting.

The Q offers a fine degree of extra control over image bokeh via an in-camera filter operation.

Powerful USER modes allow the creative photographer to save a series of favorite camera settings

Interval Movie - Take still pictures at a set interval from a set time and records it as a single movie file. I can't do that with my K-5!

The above are just the exceptional functions not usually found on this type of camera. It also has all of the functions that all Pentax compact and DSLR cameras have as well.

This little gem is the most customizable camera of all the compact cameras. Just the thought that it's smaller than the iPhone shows how portable it is and how powerful it is.
